Digital Literacy is the future of life for all of us. But how we use the computer depends entirely upon what we want to accomplish. And in the information age, with increasingly better and faster ways of communication, we can accomplish almost anything.

For example, connecting people half way around the globe is easily accomplished today. Someone from the recent past could not even fathom the idea of a person using a cellular phone. Add to that the idea of talking to two other people, one walking on the side of a road 4,000 miles away, and the other using a headset while working on his 1960's convertible. Add to that, the idea that they are part of a study group on automotive engineering. The way we use technology, the ways it can help us learn new skills and present us with new ideas, is what the Cyber Lyceum is all about.

The Cyber Lyceum is also a place to learn about and build our community: the Internet community. It is very much like living in a small town where everyone knows each other. At the same time it is like living in a big city where there are so many people you cannot know everyone. But in both places there are common issues of humanity that need to be addressed for the common good, and the Internet is a place to do that. That is why we need to think about values when we think about the Internet. We need to imagine how we can communicate with each other in ways that will encourage the value of education. Gumby represents the highest values we could ever achieve, and teaches us how having these values helps us accomplish our dreams.

The Cyber Lyceum is also a place of imagination, and imagination is the key to creativity. Imagination can unlock new doors that lead to experiences, experiments, and adventures that all depend upon our creativity. The freedom to imagine is something we all take for granted, but it is really a skill that needs to be sharpened with fresh challenges every day.

In the Cyber Lyceum, Gumby teaches us how to open our minds and harness the power of our creativity. To see how true this is, use our links to visit all of Gumby's favorite sites to discover how much you know and how much it is possible to learn with digital technology.
